Tony Condon began soaring as a student at Iowa State University in his Cherokee II and now flies a Standard Cirrus in Wichita, Kansas, where he's the President of Kansas Soaring Association.
Tony has crewed for the US Team at the last two Junior World Gliding Championships, is a previous Chair of the SSA's Junior/Youth Committee, and a two-time member of the US Soaring Team. In July of 2017, Tony was a day winner at the 2nd FAI 13.5m World Gliding Championships, where competing against the likes of Sebastian Kawa and Uli Schwenk he placed 9 of 14 overall (the highest among all Silent 2 Electros).
It should also be noted that Tony holds a Diamond Badge (No. 1059) and an FAI 750km Diploma (No. 36). On May 5, 2017, Tony flew his mistress “Kate,” a Schempp-Hirth Standard Cirrus some 537.28sm (864.67km) from Sunflower Aerodrome, Kansas, to Fayette Regional Air Center Airport, in La Grange, TX, earning him the U.S. Standard Class National Record for Straight Distance to Goal.
